no nonsense lasagne
ingredients
tomato sauce
1000g green is the new red tomato sauce (scroll up for recipe)
white sauce
500g creme fraiche
1/2 lemon squezzed
handful fresh parsley chopped
25g grated parmesan
Filling
600g steak mince
8 streaky bacon
4 sausages
10 fresh lasagne sheets
300g fresh mozzarella sliced
20g grated parmesan
fresh basil to garnish
method
chop streaky bacon & squeeze meat from sausages (discard sausage skin) in a hot large pan add oil & mince, bacon & sausage meat cook until brown. add 800ml of the tomato sauce mixture, season & cook on a low-med heat for 45 minutes - 1 hour (you are looking for the meat to absorb the sauce and any excess water to cook off) once you have a nice thick mixture leave aside to rest. in a bowl add crème fraîche, lemon juice, parmesan & chopped parsley mix add season lightly (you don't need to heat this) line the bottom of your lasagne dish with 1st layer of lasagne sheets add 1st layer of meat sauce, top with lasagne sheets then white sauce. repeat process with 2nd layer. top 2nd layer with fresh mozzarella, sprinkle over parmesan & bake in preheated oven at 190c for 20 minutes move lasagne to below grill until brown on top. take out & leave to rest. while lasagne is resting add remaining tomato sauce to saucepan & stir over med-high heat until piping hot spoon a layer of sauce in to each of your pasta dishes cut lasagne & place in dish on tomato sauce. garnish with basil or a nice pesto & enjoy.
