cReate a good dining routine. we eat three meals a day. breakfast, lunch & dinner. we also have a mid morning snack & late evening snack. this gives the girls structure & allows time to build up hunger.
Hide & seek

fruit & junk
level playing field
creating a mind set for your children that fruit is a treat is one of the best things you can do in early childhood. if you have to make. a smiley face on a plate do that......giving them a carrot/apple etc to munch on when they come to you for a treat will set you up for complete success! a cheeky trick is to keep your fruit & treats in the same place.
you are always better off to allow your mini me see what they are consuming however if you are really struggling disguising the good stuff may be your best option. in the past we used smoothies with favourite flavours like orange juice to sneak in some porridge, natural yoghurt & honey
picnic plates
arrange your child's food on a plate individually like a small picnic. (cheese, chicken, apple, carrot etc) observe observe observe. watch & see what your little one goes for & work from there.
name the dish
this is one our kids love! giving meals a funny name can also be a great way of getting them to try something new or to try it once & then reminding them the following week when meal planning "oh we could have" ...wiggly worms again!?! many of the dishes we have created are named by our girls!

food art
if this means giving your kids fruit & veg to play music with the so be it! another activity is using fruit & veg as shapes while making pictures or painting. get the mind flowing giving them a chance to touch ,play & feel the fruit &veg! this may just help when coming to tasting these at mealtimes.
pair with sweet
you first! set an example
wanting your child to eat something you don't necessarily like yourself is going to be difficult so always try foods you can relate to.
kids love sweet things so whether its old school sugar dusting on rhubarb, adding a slice of cucumber to your lemonade or adding a tspn of nutella to your banana! a sweet taste maybe the incentive your child needs.
plan & learn ...learn to plan!
star prize!
rewarding your little ones is a great way of encouraging them & getting them to taste new foods! you can use stickers or a food chart with stamps get creative! (dont use junk food)
no pressure
try to plan your meals weekly. we encourage you to sit down with your little ones & talk about what you all should eat for the week. knowing in advance is going to make life easier & eliminate any out of the blue dinner demands!
firstly don't put pressure on yourself if you don't succeed with your first attempt! secondly don't put pressure on your little one to Eat something new.by putting pressure on them could cause regression.

fussy foodie to rainbow chard gobbler!
share the journey!
even if its just bringing your children to the supermarket. sharing the process rather than simply handing them a plate of food. will encourage them to try new foods & get them asking more questions! ( while those questions can be tiring to hear for the 5 millionth time everyday!!!
it may help with a healthier dinner option!)
3 steps
step one play -
planting herbs or cutting them even if they are shop bought , touching , smelling & tasting get using those senses!
step two common ground -
using a food they love & allowing them add herbs they cut into them. for us it was baby potatoes, rosemary, lemon & garlic.
it's important not to rush from step two to step three
step three replace -
take away the common ground (potato & replace with new food leaving in place the familiar flavours lemon, garlic, rosemary)
